Head to the Heart Confirmation:
What’s New for 2026-2027?
Head to the Heart 2026-2027
The Biggest Head to the Heart Update in Over a Decade
Updated for today's middle schoolers. Same proven teaching model.
The 2026-2027 release focuses on the student side of the curriculum: updated cultural references, relatable examples, and fresh content written to connect with a middle schooler in 2026, not a middle schooler from ten years ago. Every student-facing document has been reviewed and revised with that goal in mind.
What's not changing is the Head to the Heart teaching model churches already know. The Large Group/Small Group structure, theological depth, and core lesson themes remain in place.
New for 2026-2027
Two new leader resources add more flexibility, context, and support to every Head to the Heart lesson.
QuizBowl and What's That Word? PowerPoint
A new standalone teaching tool built around two of the most popular segments of every lesson. QuizBowl isn't a knowledge test. It's a game-show-style teaching tool that introduces new lesson content through play.
Use it as its own session or drop slides directly into your Full Lesson PowerPoint. Each question includes a Did You Know? slide, theological context, real-world examples for middle schoolers, and a discussion question.
QuizBowl and What's That Word? Leader Reference Guide
For every question and vocabulary term, the guide provides the answer, two or three deeper-context facts, a plain-language explanation of why it matters theologically, real-life examples for connecting it to middle schoolers' lives, and a discussion question for your Large Group session.
It's especially useful for leaders who aren't pastors or trained theologians, but it can strengthen weekly preparation for any leader. Even if you never run the games, the guide helps you walk into the session knowing the material and knowing how to explain it.
